From fighting wars to protecting the country to the best of their abilities, the Indian Army deserves to be held on the highest pedestal of society.

10. Param Vir Chakra

 

This movie was released in the year 1995. The movie saw the likes of Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Hema Malini in leading roles. This movie wasn’t all that successful in terms of being a box office hit, but it did have a patriotic vibe to it and still remains to be one of the well made films on war in Bollywood.

9. Lalkaar (World War 2 Based)

 

The movie Lalkaar was released in 1972 and was directed by Ramanand Sagar. The movie encircles the tale of two brothers, one of which serves in the Royal Indian Air Force and the other in the Royal Indian Army. They fought Japanese invaders in Burma during the World War II. The film saw the likes of Mala Sinha, Dharmendra and Rajendra Kumar in pivotal roles.

8. 1971- 2007 (Indo Pak Conflicts Based)

 

This 2007 movie release centered the topic of the 1971 Indo Pak wars. It was a rendition of the true story of prisoners post the Indo Pak wars. The movie featured in the National Film Award for the Best Feature Film in hindi.

The cast comprised of Manoj Bajpai, Ravi Kishan, Piyush Mishra and Deepak Dobriyal. Their powerful performances contributed vastly to the success this movie attained. The film depicts the escape of six soldiers of the Indian Army from the clutches of Pakistan once they were taken captive.

7. Tango Charlie – 2005 (Internal Conflicts Based)

 

Directed by Mani Shankar, this movie aimed to portray the ill effects of war and the turmoil caused by it. This movie starred Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Bobby Deol and Sunil Shetty.

It encompassed the several internal conflicts that existed with the Bodos and the Naxalites, before moving on to the Kargil War. The movie’s release was met with positive reviews and it captured the essence of war very well.

6. Hindustan Ki Kasam (1971’s Indo Pak War Based)

 

This movie was released in the year 1993 and it was directed by Chetan Anand. The movie treads on the topic of the Indo Pak war of 1971. The movie was inspired by these events, in particular Operation Cactus Lily.

The star studded cast saw the likes of Raj Kumar, Priya Rajvansh, Balraj Sahni, Amjad Khan and Amrish Puri. The movie concentrated on the influence of the Indian Air Force in the war on the western frontier.

5. Aakraman (1971’s Indo Pak War Based)

 

The movie saw the likes of actors such as Ashok Kumar, Rekha, Rakesh Roshan, Farida Jalal, Sujit Kumar, Asrani, Keshto Mukherjee, Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz Shanti.

Directed by J Om Prakash, the movie was set against the Indo Pak war of 1971 background. It showcases the chivalry and valor with which the Indian soldiers fought the war.

Starring Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Om Puri, Sharad Kapoor and Preity Zinta, this film was the directorial venture of Hrithik Roshan. The plot focused on the 1999 Kargil Conflict.

It is the story of a boy who makes his way to becoming a Lieutenant who draws in the emotions that are a reality for field officers. The emotional delivery is simply heart wrenching. This movie is something you do not want to miss out on, one of the best Indian war movie.

3. LOC Kargil (Kargil’s Conflict Based)

 

LOC Kargil was another adaptation of the Kargil conflict. The film was directed by J P Dutta and showcased the intricacies of the 1999 Kargil conflict. It centered the battles the soldiers faced both mentally and physically.

The movie was a tribute to all the soldiers who fought the war, losing their lives, specifically in the Operation Vijay of 1999.Anuj Nayyar, Manoj Kumar Pandey and Vikram Batra were some of the stars who acted in this film.

2. Border (1971’s Indo Pak War Based)

 

This is movie is a Bollywood blockbuster that was directed by J P Dutta. The movie was based on the Indo Pak wars of 1971.It wasn’t just a critical success, but also a commercial success. With actors such as Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Jackie Shroff and Raakhee, starring in it.

Iit doesn’t come to us as a surprise that this movie was a hit. The epic war movie was a real life adaptation of the events that took place during the Battle of Longewala which was fought in Rajasthan. The well written script enunciated very well with the great acting and equally matched soundtrack.

1. Haqeeqat (1962’s Sino Indian War Based)

 

This movie was supported by the Government of India and was directed by Chetan Anand. Some of the stars that acted in this film included Dharmendra, Priya Rajvansh, Sanjay Khan, Balraj Sahni and Vijay Anand.

This classic war movie was based on the 1962 Sino Indian War. The year 1965 saw the film winning the National Film Awardfor the Second Best Feature Film. It remains to be one of the best war movies till date.

No other war movie was able to meet the success that this movie did. Couple that with the soundtrack of the film and you have a sure fire winner.
